You might have heard from your doctor or mainstream media that soy and soy milk are healthy alternatives to meat and dairy products. Despite tons of evidence to the contrary, sales of soy and soy milk are increasing every year.

Soy milk, (and soy itself however this article will focus solely on soy milk), is NOT a safe and healthy choice. Regardless of those big letters on the soy milk box, you are actually destroying your health.

Keep reading and we will explain all the reasons why you should avoid soy milk and switch to an alternative milk product TODAY!

1. It Has Anti-Nutrients

Soybeans contain large amounts of natural toxins called anti-nutrients, just two glasses of soy milk each day can alter a woman’s natural monthly cycle.

2. It’s GMO

When it comes to soy, you can’t avoid it: 98 percent of all soy is genetically modified. This means that if soy beans have been genetically modified it may be resist glyphosate or RoundUp. Soy beans are repeatedly sprayed with glyphosate and are one of the most herbicide contaminated foods on the planet.

3. Changes the Body

Soy has been found to actually increase the body’s natural need for vitamin D and vitamin B12. Many vegans who already suffer from a B12 deficiency will find that drinking soy milk will only make their problem worse.

4. Contains Aluminum

You probably never thought that a plant could contain aluminum, but soy does. Aluminum has been linked to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease as well as having a negative effect on the kidney’s.

5. Encourages Clotting

Hemagglutinin is a blood clot stimulating substance that causes red blood cells to clump together. Soy contains this compound which means it could lead to dangerous blood clots in the body.

6. Contains Anti-Absorption Compounds

Soy beans contain phytic acid, which inhibits the body from absorbing certain minerals such as copper, iron, zinc, calcium, and magnesium.

7. Not a Natural Food

Although soy bean growers, (whose seeds are purchased from Monsanto by the way), try to promote their products as being natural, they really aren’t. They are actually GM products that must be highly processed and exposed to high temperatures in order to make soy products. These are not natural compounds to the human body.

8. Stimulates Cancer Growth

Many women are encouraged to drink soy milk to help ease the symptoms of menopause. Unfortunately, soy contains isoflavones called daidzein and genistein, which actually stimulate existing breast cancer growth for those who are in the early stages of breast cancer.

9. Not a Natural Source of Estrogen

Again, many women are encouraged to consume soy milk because it contains plant estrogens called phytoestrogens. Unfortunately, for women of child bearing years, this unnatural source of estrogen confuses the body and disrupts the endocrine system. This can lead to breast cancer, irregular periods, and infertility.

10. Filled with Unwanted Ingredients

Have you ever taken a look at a typical label on commercially made soy milk? You might think that this type of milk is “completely natural” but here are the ingredients in a typical container:

  • Soy Milk (Whole soybeans and filtered water)
  • Cane sugar
  • Salt
  • Carrageenan
  • Natural flavors (which are not natural but artificial flavors)
  • Calcium carbonate
  • Vitamin A palmitate
  • Vitamin D2
  • Vitamin B2
  • Vitamin B12

Many scientific studies have found that carrageenan often causes gastrointestinal distress such as inflammation, lesions, ulcers, even colon cancer in studies done with lab animals. The American Diabetes Association has linked carrageenan to glucose intolerance and insulin resistance.
