What would you do if you knew there was an antioxidant available that could help with neurological problems, help you avoid many types of cancer, prevent heart disease, and slow down the aging process? Well, the good news is that it does exist, it is just not well known by the general public. Glutathione is recognized by physicians for its benefits and is even referred to as “the mother of all antioxidants.”

Glutathione is something that our body already produces. The bad news is that all of the elements of our everyday life – pollution, stress, bad diets, radiation, a toxic environment, and stress – are all responsible for its diminishment from our bodies.

This molecule is a marriage of glycine, cysteine, and glutamine – three major components of protein. This is able to protect our body from toxins and free radicals in our body by flushing them out of our system through its sulfur chemical groups. Here are the 8 health benefits of glutathione.

1. Powerful antioxidant

As an antioxidant, glutathione goes through our body looking for anything that is not good for us including heavy metals, toxins, and free radicals. It is responsible for attracting these substances and rids the body of them. This is one of the most important benefits that glutathione has to offer.

2. Reduces signs of aging

There is no way to escape getting older but you don’t have to feel it or look it. Glutathione helps to deal with the effects of aging by dealing with oxidative damage and free radicals that impair the cells. When the cells are damaged, you begin to show your age by becoming tired and your skin starts to look haggard.

3. Keeps your liver healthy

The highest levels of glutathione can be found in the liver. Higher levels of glutathione make it possible for the liver to not have to work so hard and it also gives it a chance to restore itself. As a result, the liver enjoys a reduced level of inflammation cutting the chances of ending up with an impaired liver or cirrhosis.

4. Builds your immunity

Glutathione can be found in every cell in your body. When our levels are down our immune system is compromised and not working at its optimum level. Increasing your levels of glutathione will help you fight any diseases or illnesses as you get them. It is to your benefit to have glutathione stored up and available when you need it.

5. Eliminates heavy metals

Our bodies come in contact with heavy metals on a regular basis through the foods we eat, the water we drink, antiperspirants, and certain dental fillings. It is an inescapable fact, but with the right amount of glutathione we are able to flush these toxins from our body.

6. Effective anti-inflammatory

Chronic pain has become a major epidemic in our country. Both types of arthritis, psoriasis, and asthma are just a few of the conditions that leave patients with chronic pain. Higher levels of glutathione help to alleviate the inflammation that comes with chronic pain.

7. Improves the health of your brain

The accumulation of heavy metals in our body have been found to cause extreme repercussions to the cells that surround the brain. This situation is what creates disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. Higher levels of glutathione prevent the deposit of heavy metals from damaging the brain area and help keep these disorders from progressing and can even help them from even starting.

8. Promotes a healthy complexion

With its antioxidant properties glutathione, can keep your complexion glowing. Your complexion will improve either from supplements you take internally or a glutathione cream that is applied topically.

How Do You Increase the Amount of Glutathione in Your Body?

  • Cruciferous vegetables – these consist of bok choy, arugula, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, collard greens, turnip, collard greens, kale, watercress, and mustard greens.
  • Selenium – your body needs this antioxidant in order to generate glutathione in the body. Foods high in selenium include brazil nuts, spinach, sardines, chicken, eggs, beef liver, halibut, and yellow fin tuna.
  • Milk thistle – this supplement is recognized for enhancing the effectiveness of glutathione as well as keeping the toxicity from compromising the liver.
  • Whey protein – whey protein helps to replenish glutathione after it has responded to an immune system that required assistance in dealing with a disease or illness.
  • B vitamins and biotin – food that will deliver these nutrients include: liver, garbanzo beans, lentils, spinach, black eyed peas, broccoli, beets, asparagus, and pinto beans.

and as an added bonus, I have read in the Consumer Health Digest that glutathione is also good for the liver and the whitening effect is just a side effect! I really love this drug and it is also a good anti-oxidant!
