8. Bacterial Infections

One of ginger’s amazing qualities is its ability to protect and strengthen the immune system. Ginger was found to successfully kill two major bacterial infections better than the usual medications. Streptococcus pyrogens and staphylococcus aureus both responded successfully to the ginger extract treatments. They beat out chloramphenicol, tetracycline, and ampicillin. These infections are very common in a hospital environment so it is suggested to bring a vial of ginger in an essential oil form. Add it to water if you are in the hospital or visiting someone there.

9. GERD

Ginger has been a proven cure for stomach ulcers from research conducted in the 1980s. After additional studies, the journal for Molecular Nutritional and Food Research published the findings showing that ginger was from “six to eight times more potent than Prevacid” in treating GERD.

10. Diabetes

An impressive group of studies showed how effective ginger is in many aspects of dealing with diabetes. The gingerols work to improve insulin sensitivity and help improve diabetic conditions. A study in 2006 that was published in the Journal for Agricultural and Food Chemistry showed that ginger helped to suppress the accumulation of sorbitol in blood cells. The bottom line is ginger can not only help to prevent getting diabetes, it can help reverse it, and protect the diabetic from specific complications.
