Fluoride seems to be the only thing people were talking about this past summer.  Why are municipalities adding fluoride? Do water filters remove fluoride? Is fluoride responsible for Alzheimer’s disease?  Etcetera, etcetera. But what most people don’t know is that fluoride is in a whole lot more than just your water and your toothpaste! Fluoride is hiding in everyday foods, drinks, and other places that you would never think could contain fluoride!

Take a look at the 10 shocking place fluoride is hanging out.

1.  Fruit Juice and Other Drinks

Worse than the sugar content that fruit juice and sports drinks contain is the fact that these popular drinks also contain between 0.05 to 2.8 PPM of fluoride per serving. Remember that’s not per bottle or can, that’s per serving. Some bottled or canned drinks have, depending on their size, between 2 to 12 servings per container. Read also about fruit drinks dangers.

2.  Cereal

Have you really read the label on most commercial cereal boxes lately? What used to be a wholesome, yummy food in the morning has turned into a toxic nightmare! Almost all processed cereals have GMO corn, perplexing ingredients such as TSP (yes, kitchen cleanser) and now, fluoride. Read the label and you will see that it’s true. Many cereals contain as much as 3.8 to 6.3 PPM per serving.

3. Beer

OMG, even in your beer?! Is nothing sacred anymore? Some brands of beer have as much as 1PPM in them. That’s pretty high, especially if you like to polish off a 6 pack on the beach.

4. Baby Food

This is another reason you should make your own homemade food for your baby. Studies show that fluoride can cause brain damage in infants. For example, a single serving of baby food (about 71 grams) made with deboned chicken, could have as much .06 mg of fluoride, which is twice the upper safety limit for fluoride of a 6 month old baby.

5. Chicken products

As you might have guessed from the baby food, the process of removing chicken from the bone by mechanical means involves using fluoridated water. This stays with the chicken after processing. Think of all the processed chicken products many of us, and especially young children, eat on a regular basis. This includes chicken nuggets, chicken patties, chicken strips, anything that has had the meat removed from the bone will contain fluoride.

6. Grapes

Yep, those tasty little grapes that you love to put in your lunch and your kids lunchbox, have fluoride on them. It’s in the pesticide that they are sprayed with. Cryolite is a fluoride based pesticide. This also ties into the juice issue. Since many juices use white grape juice as a base or filler, this is another way that fluoride gets into juice mixes and juice boxes.  Even raisins can have as much as 55PPM per serving!

7.  Lettuce

This is another one that gets sprayed with cryolite. This pesticide is very sticky, too, so even if you want to wash it off, you are going to have to do a lot more than just rinse. If you are eating iceberg lettuce, you can peel off the outer leaves and you should be able to avoid most of the fluoride. Romaine, however, and other loose leaf lettuce will have this chemical all the way to the bottom, as these are sprayed from the top.

8. Citrus fruits

These are another fruit that gets sprayed with cryolite, a fluoride based pesticide. Although you can remove most of the fluoride and pesticide by peeling things like oranges, lemons, and grapefruit, other fruits, such as pears and apples, are typically consumed with the skin on.

9. Potatoes

You would think these might be safe because these are grown underground, but they absorb this toxin as well. Potatoes have tested as high as 22PPM on the outside and 2 PPM inside.

10. Black and Green Tea

Read your label carefully! Your teas should always be certified organic. Even tea leaves are sprayed with cryolite and this substance will be in the leaves. It then transfers to your water when you boil it. If you haven’t heard, boiling fluoride does not kill it; it will only make it stronger. Read more about the shocking truth about teas from India.

One of the main lessons we can learn from this list is that processed foods and non-organic foods contain dangerous chemicals and pesticides, as well as additional fluoride. Imagine how much fluoride a person can consume through toothpaste, mouthwash, water, juice or sports drinks, chicken, tea, and conventional fruits and vegetables. It’s mind blowing to say the least!

Also, friends, if you think bottled water is safer than tap water because you think it does not contain fluoride, you are wrong. Unless you are drinking bottled water that states “fluoride free”, your water probably contains some level of fluoride. Your best bet for getting pure water is to filter the water from your own tap. Find out more dangers you never knew of bottled water.
