Although every single system in your body is vital and has its own important job to do, when your digestive system is not working properly, the rest of the body will also have problems.

Perhaps you have heard the old joke about all the body parts arguing about who was the most important? The brain thought it had the most important job, the legs and the eyes also thought they were important, but when the colon said his job was most important, all the other body parts laughed. The anus was so angry, it closed up and after a few days, the brain couldn’t function, the eyes did not work, and the legs were too weak to stand. All the body parts then agreed that you didn’t need to do anything special to be important, you just needed to be … well, you know what.

That story is meant to be a joke, but there is some truth behind it! When you are constipated, nothing seems to feel right or work right, and you don’t feel well.

Most Americans eat a terribly poor, low fiber diet that leaves a whole lot of stuff left behind in the colon. Like squeezing a toothpaste tube only from the middle, if you don’t roll it along, you leave a lot inside!

This means that you probably have pounds — literally, pounds of “stuff” — sitting in your colon, clogging up the works. Want to clean everything out, get things moving, and feel lighter, fresher, cleaner than you have in years? Try this simple but super effective high fiber method to push things through and out!

For the first week, first thing you wake up, drink a 16-ounce glass of water. That’s two full cups. You don’t have to chug it, just take 10 or 15 minutes to drink it down. Now, add one tablespoon of ground flax seed into two cups (16 ounces) of kefir. You can add some fruit to it if you like for flavor, but you don’t need to. Blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries are all good choices. Eat this each morning for one week.

The second week you will repeat the same process, but add two tablespoons of ground flax seeds. The third week, you got this it, three tablespoons of ground flax seeds.

That’s it! Flaxseed is super high in fiber and will get things moving! Kefir is chock-full of probiotics that will help to improve the flora of your digestive tract so that it can start working properly once more.

Although three weeks might seem like a long time, when you consider that this area has probably not been cleaned out in years, it’s not really all that long.

Besides, and we don’t know about you, but we don’t really want to spend a few days sitting on the toilet while our body cleans itself out! Slow and easy is the key here!

You can repeat the three tablespoons of ground flax seeds in kefir once each week to help keep things moving along and prevent any more buildup in the colon or repeat the entire process once each year. Good health is a lifelong process, friends!
