You can make salves from all of the above herbs, but one of the most commonly used salves is made with comfrey and plantain. We didn’t list plantain because it tends to grow wild everywhere. Even if you live in the city, you can probably find an abandoned lot that is growing plantain. Plantain is perfect for healing diaper rash and it stops the itching of poison ivy. Check out the following recipe and make your own comfrey/plantain healing salve.

Homemade Comfrey/Plantain Super Salve

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup dried comfrey leaves
  • ½ cup dried plantain leaves
  • 1.5 cups olive oil (or coconut or almond oil)
  • 1 teaspoons beeswax pastilles
  • 30 drops of rosemary essential oil

Instructions:

  • Make an infusion with the oil of your choice and the dried herbs. You can do this by putting the ingredients in a crockpot and set it on the lowest setting, allowing them to “cook” for about 6 hours.
  • Strain the hot oil through a cheesecloth and place it in a mason jar.
  • Add the beeswax and stir until melted and well mixed.
  • Now add the rosemary oil and mix well.
  • You can use the Mason jar to store this or transfer it to a container of your choice.

Enjoy!
