1. Flavored Water

When it’s hot outside, you want to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps your body to maintain its temperature, stops water retention, and can even make you feel full so you eat less. But when plain old ice water just doesn’t cut it, spice it up by adding some fresh herbs, fruits, and even a few veggies into the mix to encourage you to drink more without filling out your waistline more. Try adding some slightly crushed strawberries and mint, or a few organic cucumber slices to your water. This will add tons of flavor without adding tons of calories.

2. Watermelon Smoothie

As long as they aren’t made with sugary mixes such as ice cream, full fat milk, or sugar filled fruit yogurts, smoothies are another great way to stay hydrated. Watermelon, in particular, is a great low calorie base for your summer smoothie. Watermelon, as you might have guessed, is full of water of course, but it’s also loaded with healthy vitamins and a great little cancer fighter called lycopene. It also has an important amino acid known as arginine. Studies show that this amino acid can lower body fat levels and increase lean muscle mass. At a skinny 56 calories, this smoothie is something you can enjoy every day this summer. Read more about benefits of watermelon.

2 Cups of organic, chopped watermelon (minus seeds)

¼ Cup of coconut milk or fat free milk

2 Cups of ice

Place all items except ice in the blender and mix for 15 seconds. Add the ice and blend for another 20 seconds.

3. Pineapple Frappe

Drinking blended pineapple drinks feels like a beach vacation, even if you are only sitting on your front porch. This drink proudly packs two great belly shrinking ingredients. The flaxseed oil has monounsaturated fatty acids, which is a well proven stomach fat flattener, and the sweet pineapple, which contains an enzyme called bromelain, which breaks down proteins, improves digestion, and gets rid of bloat.

1 Cup of coconut milk

4 Ounces of canned pineapple tidbits

1 Tablespoon of cold-pressed organic flaxseed oil

A handful or two of ice

Place all ingredients except the flaxseed oil into a blender. Whip for one minute, and then pour in glass. Stir in flaxseed oil and enjoy!

4. Iced Peppermint Tea

This light tasting thirst quencher is oh so refreshing on those hottest of summer day. Don’t let the taste fool you, however, it’s also a fantastic belly fat banisher. Peppermint is known for helping your body process fat and helps stop bloat from those other, perhaps, not so good for you food. Brew up a nice pot of peppermint tea, and let cool. Add tons of ice to your glass and sip away that belly fat.

5. Green Tea

Besides reducing your risk of heart disease and cancer, green tea has many healthful benefits. It contains super antioxidants called catechins, which has been proven to help reduce belly fat. It also increases the metabolism, which can help you drop a few pounds. Sipping green tea before you work out should help you to increase the amount of fat that you burn both during and after your workout. If you like your tea a bit sweet, avoid fattening sugar and dangerous artificial sweeteners and try stevia or add a bit of raw honey. Always brew green tea fresh, and then add ice, and maybe a bit of lemon. Don’t waste your time drinking those cans or bottles of green tea, no matter how “healthy” the label might make it sound. These drinks have been processed and contain little or no healthy antioxidants or vitamins whatsoever.

6. Super No Belly Berry Smoothie

Smoothies are so refreshing on those hot summer days, and this one can help you to burn off some belly fat while filling you with tons of healthy antioxidants. This drink contains strawberries, which can help you strengthen your immune system and fight certain cancers; cherries, which are good for arthritis sufferers and reduces your risk of heart disease, as well as helping you sleep at night because they contain melatonin; and blueberries which are also good cancer fighters, lowers blood pressure, and is high in fiber. What more could you ask for in a drink?

(This recipe makes 2 servings)

2 Cups of organic strawberries

1 Cup of fresh, organic cherries (or frozen)

1 Cup of organic frozen blueberries (these have more antioxidants when frozen)

1 Cup of coconut milk

1 Tablespoon of whey protein

Place all ingredients in your blender and mix on its highest setting for one minute. Add some ice if you want it super cold.
