15 Tricks for Using This One Oil as a Beauty Treatment (#6 is So Cool!)
If you have decided to part ways with all your chemical filled beauty products, good for you! Everything that we put on our skin is absorbed directly into the blood stream, so the last thing you want to do is put toxic chemicals all over yourself. That kind of defeats the point of eating healthy and exercising, doesn’t it?
There is really no reason why everyone shouldn’t ditch those overpriced, toxic “beauty” products. We have plenty of natural items that will do the same job (and often a better job) for a fraction of the cost and with no side effects.
One of the best things you can use is extra virgin olive oil. Perhaps you think olive oil is only something for the kitchen. You might be surprised to know that olive oil is not only packed with nutrients, which does make it perfect for cooking, but this also makes it perfect for your beauty routine. You might have even seen some products boast that they use olive oil as a base.
Olive oil has tons of vitamin E, which prevents the premature aging of the skin (this means fewer wrinkles!), vitamin K, which can stop acne, linoleic, palmitic, and oleic acid. Even though the word acid sounds harsh, these are actually fatty acids, which are terrific for dry skin. Olive oil is also full of antimicrobial and antioxidant compounds such as oleuropein and tyrosol, which stops your skin from getting infections and acne.
There are so many good things about olive oil that we have just scratched the surface. Want to know more? Keep reading and find out the top beauty tricks that you can use to improve your skin, hair, nails, and more, simply by using extra virgin olive oil.
1. Prevent Hang Nails
Everyone gets a hang nail every now and then, it seems that there is no way around these annoying but painful little bits of hard skin right next to the nail. Do you know what hand models like Ashly Covington use to stop hang nails and keep their cuticles soft? Olive oil! Several times each day, just add one drop to your nails and massage the oil around the sides of your nails to keep the skin soft and prevent it from forming hang nails. You can also soak your nails in a bit olive oil for about 10 minutes before bedtime, then put on cotton gloves and wear them overnight for super soft hands that have no painful, unsightly hang nails.
2. Super Soft Skin
If you suffer from dry skin, you must try olive oil! This oil is thick, but not greasy, so it will moisturize, soothe, and nourish your skin. Regular use of olive oil can help to rejuvenate and heal dry skin as well. Olive oil is loaded with antioxidant compounds so it prevents wrinkles. If you have oily skin (or even normal skin) you will be better off using coconut oil. Olive oil is quite thick. However, if you are constantly applying lotion to your body or face because it is so dry, try olive oil instead. Put a few drops on your hands and then massage into the body. Add just a few drops at a time until you have covered your entire body. Most women do this before bedtime, then shower as they normally would the following morning, but you can also try it directly out of the shower as well. Repeat each day until your skin is no longer dry and flaky. Then you can use this method twice a week to keep your skin baby soft and supple.
3. Repair Cracked Heels
Dry, cracked heels are not only painful, but they are unsightly as well, especially during these warm summer months that simply cry out for sandals! You don’t need an expensive pedicure at the day spa; all you need is some olive oil. Soak your feet for 10 or 15 minutes in warm water and then exfoliate them with a pumice stone. Now apply olive oil to your feet, paying special attention to your heels. Put on a nice pair of cotton socks and leave them on overnight. In the morning, your cracked, dry heels will be a thing of the past!

4. Natural Makeup Remover
Why spend money on those expensive makeup removers that are full of chemicals? And for those of you who have sensitive skin and find that most makeup removers irritate your delicate skin, we have the answer for you. Yep, you guessed it, olive oil! Olive oil will hydrate the skin and removes all types of makeup easily, even waterproof makeup. Dab some olive oil onto a cotton ball and rub gently until all traces of makeup have been removed. Rinse with warm water when you have finished and pat dry.
5. Stops Diaper Rash
Everyone needs a little extra help now and then, especially babies. There are very few products that are safe for your baby’s delicate skin but here is one that you can use with confidence. Extra virgin olive oil will heal and prevent diaper rash as well as cradle cap.
6. Longer Eyelashes and Eyebrows
You have probably seen those commercial on television advertising a chemical that you can apply to your lashes for longer, thicker eyelashes. Did you know that one of the “side effects” of that chemical is possible blindness? Seems like a high price to pay for longer lashes, especially when you can use all natural olive oil and get the same results. Rich in vitamin E, olive oil can help to grow both eye lashes and eye brow hair. It will lengthen, protect, and condition your eyelashes, helping them to grow in thicker and to not break off as easily. It will also encourage your eyebrows to grow in thicker, as well as to grow more quickly. Simply rub a drop of extra virgin olive oil on your lashes and eyebrows each night before bed. Wash it off in the morning.
That’s it! Sounds too simple to be true, but this really works! It will take about 4 to 6 weeks to see the results, but you definitely will!

7. Super Soft Lips
Summer weather sometimes means burned or chapped lips. Salt water, chlorine filled swimming pools, sun, sand, and too much salt on your margarita can all wreak havoc on your lips. Keep them soft and protected by massaging them with a drop or two of olive oil. Olive oil is a natural sunscreen and it will hydrate your lips so they stay soft and pretty.
8. Natural Eczema Remedy
This is a popular remedy for eczema because it is super effective. Olive oil works like an intensive moisturizer which is exactly what those who suffer from eczema need. Apply some olive oil several times each day to the affected area for best results.

9. Super Bath Treatment
Gorgeous Italian actress Sophia Loren once said that her best beauty secret was olive oil baths. There are two ways to do this. First, you can massage olive oil all over your skin just before hopping into a warm bath and soak for 20 to 30 minutes or you can add about 5 tablespoon of olive oil directly to the bath water itself and jump in. This simple but amazing beauty trick can make every inch of your skin supple and soft as a baby’s. Once you get out of the tub, pat your skin dry to remove any excess oil. That’s it. Do this twice a week for best results.

10. Strengthen Your Nails
If you suffer from weak or brittle nails that split or break off easily, you can improve their health by using olive oil. Soak your nails once or twice a week in some warm olive oil for 5 or 10 minutes. Make sure that your nails are bare before you soak them. That’s all it takes to have truly strong, naturally beautiful nails!
11. Long Beautiful Hair
Ditch all those serums and expensive, intensive hair masks! We have one that is inexpensive and you probably have everything you need right in your kitchen. Mix one egg yolk with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Before shampooing, simply rub this mixture on your hair, put on a shower cap and wait for 15 to 20 minutes. Now shower and use your regular shampoo and conditioner. You will instantly have softer, shinier hair.
If you want a super intensive treatment, warm two or three tablespoon of olive oil (don’t let it get too hot!) and apply it to your dry hair. Massage it into your scalp as well to encourage your hair to grow faster. Put on a shower cap and allow the oil to sit for a minimum of one hour. You can leave it on all afternoon, overnight, as long as you like. You can shampoo as you normally would. If you have left the oil on for a long time you might have to shampoo twice. Do this treatment twice a month for truly longer, more beautiful locks.
12. Shaving Cream Replacement
If you are tired of paying for those expensive shaving creams, we have good news for you; just forget about them! Olive oil will do the same thing for pennies. Slather olive oil on your legs and underarms before you shave and you will not only have super soft legs, but you will avoid razor burn and those annoying red bumps that occur with dry shaving.

14. Super Eye Cream
If you have ever paid $40, $50, or more for eye cream and thought that you had no alternative, now you do. Olive oil will nourish that tender skin around the eyes and soften fine lines. Since this oil is loaded with antioxidants, it will also prevent wrinkles from forming. All you need to do is to gently dab a few drops of olive oil around the eye area before bedtime. To help stop puffy bags under the eyes, keep some olive oil in your frig and apply a few drops in the morning.
15. Beautifying Face Masks
If you want a face mask that will help to brighten up your complexion, mix one egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Apply this mixture to your clean face and allow it to work for 5 or 10 minutes, and then rinse with cool water. This mask will nourish dry skin, soften fine lines, and brighten the complexion.
Alternatively, if you have normal skin and want a deep cleansing mask mix one tablespoon of olive oil and one tablespoon of white cosmetic clay. Apply this mixture to your face and allow it to work for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.
There are so many wonderful things you can do with olive oil. You will not be disappointed with results. After all, Cleopatra, considered to be one of the most beautiful women in history, used olive oil in her beauty routine, so why shouldn’t you?
