Can Aloe Vera Really Help You Lose Weight?
Aloe vera also has high amounts of collagen, which help your body spend extra energy trying to assimilate this protein. Collagen also reduces the amount of time that food spends in the intestines, so your body does not have time to absorb as many calories. This doesn’t mean that you won’t get the nutrition your body needs, however. Aloe vera juice contains folic acid, niacin, and vitamins A, the B complex vitamins, E, and C.
Ayurvedic medicine says that drinking aloe vera juice during the week is the same as working out several times per week. Although aloe vera juice won’t help you build muscle the way working out will, it does have properties that will help you lose weight more easily.
The juice from this plant also helps to reduce blood sugar levels as it releases sugar more slowly into the cells. It also encourages your body to burn glucose as energy, rather than store it as fat.
You should be able to buy aloe vera juice at your local health food store. Or, if you prefer, you can make your own at home. With just a few plants, you can make your own healthy, preservative free juice. Remove one or two leaves from your aloe vera plant. Wash them well, and then strip off the outer green part of the leaf. Place the leaves in your blender, juicer, or food processor to get the juice. Filter the mixture through a strainer, squeezing it to get the most juice out of the pulp. Place this mixture in a glass container with a lid and store it in the fridge. Take one teaspoon each day just before you eat. If you find the juice is too bitter for your taste, you can mix it with some water, or add a half a teaspoon of raw honey to make it more palatable.
Some people do have a reaction to aloe vera juice so if you have low blood pressure, Crohn’s diseases, colitis, or other intestinal problems, you should consult your doctor before consuming aloe vera. Also, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should avoid taking aloe vera juice.
For most people, aloe vera juice is a healthy and easy way to control your weight with no side effects. It does contain laxative type qualities so it’s normal for some people to have more frequent bowel movements when you first begin consuming this healthy juice. This just means aloe vera is doing its job, cleaning out excess waste and toxins from your body. As your body becomes accustomed to the juice, it will stabilize and your bowel movements will become more normal.
