Seven Food Modifications To Avoid

Since the advent of modern food production after World War II, corporations have used a number of methods to boost sales of highly processed food products. These chemical modifications are not necessarily beneficial to the consumer, but they do benefit the corporations. Despite all the news about genetically modified organics (GMO’s) in recent years, they have been around for over 30 years.

Toxic chemicals have been introduced into food production at almost every stage. Chemical pesticides kill pest and insects where food grows. During production, more chemicals are added to fight mildew and mold. Other chemicals are added to fight bacteria and fungus. Still, even more are added to make foods look more attractive and give them a longer shelf life. And if that wasn’t enough, more chemicals are added to enhance the flavor that the other chemicals have killed off. The end results are food products that are riddled with artificial substances which lead to depression and anxiety. People then turn to modern medicine for help and receive even more chemicals to help regulate these issues.

The habitual consumption of overly processed foods means the body of the average person contains poisons that no one would willingly put into their body. If an unwell individual could prove that their health issues were related to chemicals in their food, who would they sue? Because the practice is so widespread, it would be impossible to pinpoint the blame on a single corporation. Even if a lawsuit was brought to one of these corporations, no one would hold them accountable for their actions.

The sinister corporate food industry has proven that they have little concern for the well-being and health of Americans. Other companies are no better, investing resources to promote crazy medicines and toxic vaccines which are supposed to fix the problems caused by the foods we eat. As a result, the average American is made sicker and sicker by the foods that are supposed to nourish them.

If the saying ‘you are what you eat’ is true, then we have become a nation of genetically modified people with health problems that have been artificially implanted in us by food. So, what are these food modifications that you should stay away from? Below are seven frightening food modifications that every person should avoid.

1. Artificial Food Dyes

Replicating all the colors of the rainbow, artificial food dyes are found in pretty much every processed, non-natural food. Since they are so widely used, many people may not give a second thought to them as ingredients in food. However, these dyes are mostly derived from petroleum, a chemical which doesn’t belong in the human body. Brain function, behavior and cell development are affected by petroleum. Allergies are aggravated by it. Some dyes contain cancer causing chemicals. If all of that wasn’t bad enough, the purpose of some of these dyes is to actually mask filth and rot in some food products like candy. Specific food dyes to watch out for are Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Citrus Red 2, Red 3, Red 40, Blue 1, Blue 2 and Green 3.

2. Nitrates and Nitrites

As meat ages, it turns brown. To prevent this, meat companies use the toxic chemicals called nitrites and nitrates to keep meat fresh. Steak, hamburger, and most other processed meats are treated with these synthetic cancer-causing compounds. Since the 1970s, it was known that nitrites are transformed into nitrosamines in the human body which causes leukemia. Still, these dangerous chemicals are a common ingredient in beef jerky, hot dogs, bacon, and sausages. The toxicity of these substances is proven by their use in killing wild hogs with nickel sized tablets of nitrites which cause death within a few hours of consumption.

3. Sodium benzoate

This preservative keeps foods fresh and extends it’s shelf life. Used to preserve canned and jarred foods, one of the side effects of sodium benzoate in the human body is the strangulation of mitochondria (brain cells). Eventually, it causes cancer. So while the food corporations use it to extend the life of food, it effectively shortens the life of the people who consume it. This chemical is commonly found in canned fruits and vegetables, pickles, dressings, sauces, and many more food products found in the center aisles of almost every American grocery store and supermarket.

4. Food-Grade Shellac

You may have seen a label on produce which says something like ‘This product has been coated with an FDA approved food-grade wax to preserve freshness.’ This artificial, unnecessary coating is used for cosmetic purposes only and does nothing to enhance nutrition. Also derived from petroleum, shellac is used on fruits and vegetables to make them shinier and more attractive. Apples, oranges, tomatoes, avocadoes, pineapples, and other produce receive the same coating that a new surfboard gets. Even though the labels says ‘FDA-approved’, ‘food safe’ and ‘to maintain freshness,’ no human being should be putting petroleum products into their body, regardless of how ‘safe’ the FDA says it is.

5. Chemical Pesticides

Molecular engineers who specialize in gene-splicing have labored for years to bond vegetable and fruit seedlings to herbicides and pesticides. The goal of introducing these poisonous substances into plants is to make them resistant to pests that would damage them. This increases the productivity of each plant and boosts the corporation’s’ profits. Without even knowing it, the majority of Americans eat some form of GMO products like corn, soy, cottonseed oil, or canola oil. Consuming these products with pesticides and herbicides built into their structure causes human cells to mutate, which then fuels the development of a variety of cancers and malignant tumors.

6. Benzene (Used in Coffee Decaffeination)

The seemingly benign process of removing most of the caffeine from coffee beans frequently involves soaking them in benzene, a toxic chemical that dissolves the caffeine. Long term exposure to benzene produces neurological issues such as headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, and loss of consciousness. Large doses of benzene cause dizziness, vomiting, and convulsions. Benzene can even lead to death. When the skin is exposed to benzene, it becomes red and develops blisters. Exposure to benzene vapor creates respiratory problems.

7. Carrageenan

Derived from a red seaweed compound, this emulsifying chemical is a thickening and gelling agent. Over time it can coagulate in the human body causing lesions in the digestive tract and excretory pathways. This harmful compound is found in food products like ice cream, yogurt, coffee creamer, cottage cheese, sour cream and milk substitutes like soy milk, coconut milk and almond milk. It is even permitted in organic food products. Evidence shows that as carrageenan degrades, it triggers a number of health issues including malignancies in the gastrointestinal tract, including lesions, ulceration and can lead to digestive disorders and even cancer.
