Starve Cancer Every Time You Eat

Cancer rates are out of control in America and they don’t appear to be going down any time soon. There are a dozen reasons why Americans have such high rates of cancer, everything from the poisons in our environment, to our chronic stress levels, to the toxic chemicals in our homes, to our food and lack of exercise.

There is so little attention paid towards prevention, however, it’s almost sad. We have candle light marches, fund raiser, and awareness programs for those who have cancer, but when was the last time you saw a 5K run to prevent cancer?

New scientific studies show that there are certain foods we can at that will actually stop feeding cancer cells and like everything else on this planet, without food ,they will starve to death.

Are you familiar with the term Angiogenesis?   This is what happens when blood vessels form off of other blood vessels. Blood vessels are vital to our body and an amazing thing about our bodies is that they know to control this system. Your body controls the growth of new blood vessels and the pruning of blood vessels that are no longer needed. However, this process can sometimes get out of control. If you should grow a tumor, for example, your body will, unfortunately, grow new blood vessels to feed that tumor. Cancerous tumors can sometimes get so big that they suck up most of the nutrition from the body. Almost everyone has seen cancer patients that look “sucked up”, hollow cheeks and thin limbs. This is because that tumor, or the cancer, is getting most of the food they are eating.

Cancer begins a bunch of harmless cells but, when fed the right diet of new blood vessels and sugar, they grow to form tumors or cancers.

New research is being done to find out which foods are anti-angiogenic so it can help to cut off the blood and food supply from cancers and tumors in the body.  There are anti-angiogenesis drugs being tested right now, however, as with most pharmaceutical drugs, they are toxic and can create even more problems within the body. Although they would be a preferably alternative to surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, they still have a lot of issues.

There are many research studies being done right now with cannabis and the results are very promising but we are far from being able to go to the pharmacy for some THC oil when we are sick.

Until more non-toxic compounds become available for treatment, it’s vital that we focus on the foods that we know have anti-cancer and anti-angiogenic compounds:

On a side note, a recent study done at Harvard showed that men who ate tomatoes and tomato sauce 4 times or more per week had as much as a 50 percent decrease in their risk of developing prostate cancer. Tomatoes are high in lycopene, which is highly anti-angiogenic. This was a large study that involved more than 50,000 men.

There are some things that are beyond our control but our diet is one thing we are completely responsible for. Eat smart!
