The Benefits of Neem Oil

The benefits of neem oil are rooted in the unique combination of compounds which heal and clear skin. One of the most important of these is the high concentration of essential fatty acids which are found in this oil. These fatty acids are absorbed by the skin, hydrating it without making it greasy. Some of these fatty acidic compounds include oleic acid (a key component of extra virgin olive oil, which has numerous health benefits), palmitic acid, linoleic acid, and stearic acid. Each of these compounds offers documented abilities to rejuvenate and restore a healthy, vibrant appearance to skin.

Another key ingredient found in neem oil that benefits the skin is vitamin E. This vitamin is added to many different cosmetic products and brands of soap because of its antioxidant properties, and because it how it can help strengthen natural skin elasticity by improving the body’s natural production of collagen. This keeps your skin looking taut and young, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines.

But What About Treating Acne?

Here’s where things get really interesting. Neem oil contains two different compounds called nimbin and nimbidin. These two ingredients allow neem oil to alleviate the swelling and redness that occurs with acne. The oil also has antibacterial properties which can help clear away bacteria and clean out pores. This in turn prevents further breakouts from occurring on the sites where neem oil has been applied.

To use neem oil to get rid of acne, you want to mix it with a carrier oil and apply it directly to a pimple. It’s important to start out with just a little, because some people’s skin might not agree with it. For example, try blending ten drops of neem oil and 1 teaspoon of coconut or olive oil that has been slightly warmed. Let it sit for one hour, then wash it off.

Again, these are the recommendations for first time use. As you become more experienced with neem oil, you can try leaving it on overnight to see if it produces even better results.

Neem is very healthy it can prevent so many diseases. The active ingredient could not be isolated and synthesized thats why Pharma companies tried to Patent Neem and Turmeric.
But failed. Because the health beneifts of both have been documented in Ayurveda long ago.
