4. Hangovers

Although there are many theories behind why this type of headache happens, it’s believed that it comes from dehydration combined with inflammation from the effects of alcohol. Whatever the reason, the root cause is clear. Don’t indulge in excessive drinking. Alternating every other drink with ice water sometimes helps as well. If you wake up with a hangover, try to eat something greasy and fatty as this helps the body to recover by absorbing some of the alcohol that might still be in the body.

5. Migraine headaches

If you have ever had one of these, you know what killers they can be. It’s interesting to note that the hallmark of a migraine, those flashing lights, typically happen immediately after a stressful event. Some scientists believe that this might have something to do with the stress hormone cortisol. Unfortunately, there isn’t much that can be done for migraines since doctors don’t know the real cause but try noticing if you get migraine headaches soon after a stressful event. This might clue you in as to at least when and how you get them.

6. Environmental sensitivities

With more than 12,000 pollutants and various chemicals and substances floating around us at any given time, headaches that are caused by these factors are on the rise. It doesn’t really matter if its mold, smoke, pollen, perfume, deodorizers, plastics, carbon monoxide or chlorine, any or all of these toxic substances can lead to headaches.

Although it’s virtually impossible to eliminate all environmental hazards, unless you live in a glass bubble, you can protect yourself by adding living plants into your home and workspace. These can help clean the immediate air surrounding you. Also, spend more time in nature, with the trees and other plants, and perform regular detox schedules.
