7. Regularly check sites for easy menu ideas

There are plenty of sites on the Internet that feature healthy foods you can prepare quickly. Try one new recipe each week.

8. Go the volumetric route

One fast food hamburger, fries, and a large coke could be adding up to anywhere from 1,000 to 1,200 calories. Think of how much salad, fresh fruit, crackers, cheese, and unsweetened ice tea you could have for the same number of calories. Eat more food for less calories and you will never be hungry.

9. Figure out how much you are saving and reward yourself

See how much you were spending eating out every day and put that money aside once you start preparing your own meals. Once you have accumulated a month or two of extra funds, treat yourself to a half-day at a spa, get your nails done, or spend a few extra dollars and have your hair styled or colored at a salon.

10. If you are unsure of food being served, eat at home first

If you are ever going to a party and you know they are having a greasy pizza or fat filled chicken wings and dip, eat at home so you are not hungry or tempted. Bring a vegetable tray with some herbed dip so you have something yummy to munch on and no one will even notice you’re not eating the junk food.
