Do you have one of those friends who are super healthy? Ever wondered just how the heck they manage to do it? They don’t have any special talents that you don’t have. They have simply developed healthy habits and have made lifestyle choices that they are happy with. Now although there is no perfect formula, and what works for one person might not necessarily work for you, keep reading to discover the best habits that super healthy people practice regularly. Maybe if you add a few of these into your own life you just might find that, one day, someone else is asking you, how do you do it?

1. They Develop Cooking Skills

It’s true that many healthy foods aren’t as fast and easy as junk food or fast food, but those aren’t really food when it comes down to it. The best tasting, most healthy foods are the ones you cook from scratch at home. You don’t have to be a master chef, you don’t have to take years of cooking classes, and you only need to learn a few basic skills. There are numerous websites that will give you recipes and even teach you some of the finer elements of cooking. YouTube videos are another great source, so you can simply follow along. Once you get the hang of it and develop some recipes you love, you will one day look a restaurant meal and think “I can make that.”

2. They Pig Out on Water

Avoid that all day coffee or soda habit and replace it with herbal teas, green teas, and plenty of purified water. Everything in your body requires water to operate and grow. The true fountain of youth is nothing more than water, friends, so feel free to go hog wild. Read more which water you should drink.

3. They are Organized

You might think of organization as a trait, not a habit, but it really is nothing more than a habit. Super healthy people have a plan, whatever works best for them. They are punctual, so there is no excuse for not doing something (or doing something you shouldn’t). They make their lunch the night before, they pack their gym bag so it’s ready to go in the morning, they already know what they are going to eat for breakfast, and they set their alarm 5 minutes early, so they won’t have to rush. You can do the same. Really, you can!

4. They Get Their Z’s

Super healthy people know that a good night’s rest is just as important as diet and exercise. Find out dangers of sleep deprivation. They know that your immune system, memory, energy levels, and balanced hormones all rely on a good night’s sleep. Super healthy people don’t feel guilty about getting their z’s. They know they are taking care of themselves, and it shows!

5. They Know When to Relax

Besides their sleep, super healthy people respect the fact that their mind and body’s need to relax sometimes. Relaxing is like a reboot for your body and mind. If you are constantly thinking and moving on to the next thing, you will absolutely wear yourself to a frazzle. Sitting back and taking a break when you need it allows you to think about things and see things from another perspective. Some of the best ideas come to people when they are relaxing and not really seeking answers. It’s funny how that works, but it’s true.

6. They Look After Their Health

It’s really easy to neglect the healthy habits that keep us feeling good, but healthy people know that they have to prioritize their health if they want to keep it. That’s why you sometimes find that they prefer to play sports or meet with their walking group, rather than have drinks. They choose to drink water instead of sodas, they choose to eat the lunch they made, rather than go out for pizza with co-workers. This doesn’t mean that they are sticks-in-the-mud, they simply want to look after themselves and they aren’t ashamed to do so.

7. They Practice Moderation

As with anything else in life, too much or too little of just about anything is not good. Mother Nature works in perfect balance and super healthy people try to do the same. They know they shouldn’t work out every day, they sometimes enjoy a piece of birthday cake, and they occasionally stay out too late at a party. But they always go right back into their healthy routine after they take a break. They know the secret rule of life: Everything in moderation, including moderation.

8. They Plan Their Meals

Super healthy people know that it’s good to move more and snack less. They know that if they do want a snack, it’s better to have one in your purse or desk drawer than to hit up the vending machine. They make a basic meal plan for the week, go shopping, and use the food they bought. They know that eating right will pay off, and to eat right, you need to do a little planning. Because they know that although there is someone on the corner selling hot dogs, there isn’t someone on another corner selling steamed veggies.

9. They Have Fun with Fitness

Super healthy people don’t moan about how they “have to” go to the gym. If they don’t feel like the gym, they skip it! They don’t skip exercise; they just enjoy the exercise they are doing. They go swimming with their kids or play soccer with some friends, maybe they go for a long walk in a beautiful nature park, or go rollerblading with the family dog. They know exercise is important and they also know the surest way to stop exercising is to become bored with it.

10.  They Express Gratitude

This is a super healthy habit that will nourish your mind and soul. When you appreciate the things you have, the people in your life, all the goodness that surrounds you, you can’t help but have a more peaceful state of mind. When you show your appreciation for those around you and the things they do, as well as who they are, you will build stronger, healthier relationships, and that is good for body and soul.
