12 Ways to Use Every Day Baking Soda as Medicine
10. Dependable Deodorant
Baking soda naturally kills the bacteria that cause terrible body odor. Have you ever noticed how many of those natural deodorants sold in stores contain baking soda? You can make your own deodorant using baking soda; there are dozens of recipes online, however, the most basic method is to simply pour about a teaspoon of baking soda into your palm, mix it with just enough water to make a paste, and then rub the paste on your pits.
11. Conquer the Common Cold
In 1924, there was actually a small book published by a Dr. Volney Cheney who described his efforts with using baking soda to cure colds and flu viruses. He says that the subjects who were treated with baking soda either did not come down with the virus, or that they had a much milder case. There is really nothing special to his method so if you would like to try it yourself, here is Dr. Cheney’s method. If you think you have been exposed to a cold or flu, or at the very first signs of either, use this:
Day One – Mix ½ a teaspoon of baking soda in one glass of water and drink this every two hours until you have consumed 6 glasses.
Day Two – Make the same mixture and drink 4 glasses.
Day Three- Make the same mixture and drink two glasses, one in the morning and one just before bed.
After that, just one glass of this mixture each day until all symptoms have disappeared. Read more how to fight colds and flu with baking soda.
