If you have ever had laryngitis (and chances are you have) then you know it can be a real pain in the….throat! You gag, your words stop short in a coughing fit, and you can barely talk. Even when you can talk, you sound an awful lot like Kermit the frog or Mickey Mouse.
Common causes of laryngitis are bacterial, viral, or fungal infections, smoking or exposure to smoky areas, excessive use of the voice through singing, yelling, or a chronic irritation of the vocal chords, upper respiratory infections, or as a consequence of some other disease such pneumonia, bronchitis, measles, whooping cough, a common cold, or flu virus.
Although most cases of laryngitis disappear in 3 to 14 days.
