Instructions:

  • Cut the lemon or orange into quarters.
  • Add the fruit and water to a pot and heat until the liquid is reduced by half.
  • Strain through a cheesecloth into a measuring cup. If you find you have a little less than 1 cup, top it off with more distilled water or remove some if you have a little bit over. In the end, you want 1 cup of juice water.
  • Allow to cool to room temperature.
  • While the water is cooling, add the essential oils and vodka in a small glass bowl. You can use a different scent if you like. Make a stronger scent by adding a few more drops at a time until you are happy with the scent.
  • When the water is cool, add the essential oils and vodka to the water and mix well using a wood or plastic spoon.
  • Use a funnel and pour this mixture into a spray bottle. A bottle with a very fine mister nozzle works well for this spray.
  • Shake well before each use.

This spray is more of a flexible hold type that keeps bangs in place and stops flyaway hair but isn’t really for those beehive hairdos. Be sure that if you have dark hair you use an orange, as lemon can lighten your hair once you are in the sunlight.
