Some women do not experience health problems right away. Dr. Mir states that he has treated women who began to experience problems years after their initial injection.
It can be difficult to find a plastic surgeon who will treat a patient who has undergone illegal butt injections. Most doctors are not interested in taking on a patient who has complications from something that was done by someone else. Many doctors simply chastise patients for allowing an unlicensed practitioner to inject them with some unknown substance.
There are a few doctors who believe that these patients should be treated with a laser and then liposuction but Dr. Mir isn’t one of them. He believes this can cause silicone to spread to other areas of the body. Dr. Mir believes that surgical excision of the substance used is what is needed.
The woman from Maryland died after receiving an injection of some sort in her buttocks while at a hotel that was close to the Philadelphia International Airport. It is thought that this woman arranged for her injections over the internet.
This is surprising according to police. A simple Google search of the words “silicone injection” will produce millions of hits and plenty of horror stories to match. However, most people think that they are smarter than “those people” and that it won’t happen to them.
One British student, Claudia Aderotimi, and three friends flew from London to Philadelphia so that she and her other friends could undergo various cosmetic treatments Aderotimi and another friend agreed to “silicon” injections in their butts for an unknown amount of cash. The other friend paid $1,800 for “hip augmentation.”
Aderotimi received her butt injection about 12PM on February 7th. She began to complain of severe chest pains about midnight that same day. She was rushed to Delaware County Hospital and died at 1:30AM.
Aderotimi’s cause of death is listed as the silicone injection she had earlier received. The practitioner injected the substance into her veins which stopped her heart.
Detectives state that these injections were done in one of the hotel rooms but who actually rented the room is not clear. The police are searching for two people who performed these procedures.
