5. Simple Baking Soda Gargle

This simple, inexpensive, and easy to make tea is another great one for sore throats. Baking soda has antibacterial compounds that kill those nasty bugs, along with an alkaline PH, which soothes irritated membranes. Read more about baking soda uses.

Heat a mug of water until it’s hot, but not boiling. Mix ½ teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of salt. You want this to be warm, but not so hot you can’t put it in your mouth. Gargle with this liquid at least twice per day.

6. Sweet Honeysuckle Tea

If you are lucky enough to have some honeysuckle plants, pick some leaves and flowers now and dry them for the winter. You can sometimes buy this online, but homegrown is easier and it’s available for you when you need it.

Simmer about 2 cups of a mixture of both leaves and flowers in one quart of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Strain out the flowers and leaves. Pour into a mug, and add one tablespoon of raw, organic honey. You can also add some lemon juice or a slice of lemon if you like.

7. All Natural Cinnamon Tea

Cinnamon is great for relieving the pain of a sore throat while opening up your sinuses at the same time.

Boil about 2 cups of water, and then add 2 or 3 fresh cinnamon sticks. Let this boil for about 3 minutes, and then take out the cinnamon sticks. Now you can add a regular chamomile tea bag or drink it as is, with a little bit of raw, organic honey. Chamomile tea steeped in this cinnamon tea mixture, combined with a little honey, is a super bacteria killing bomb! Find out health benefits of cinnamon and honey.

The instant you feel that funny tickle or pain in your throat (or your kids complain about their throat hurting) use any of the mixtures above ASAP, in order to kill as much of the bacteria as you can before they multiply.

There is nothing more soothing than a great cup of tea. Enjoy!
