Top Tips for Getting Healthy Super Cheap and Super Easy!
It’s a well-known fact that putting high quality food into your body will yield high quality health but let’s face it, some of us simply just don’t have the money to eat or to exercise the way we want to.
There are plenty of inexpensive ways that you can improve your health via diet, exercise, and other forms of therapy that cost very little or nothing at all!
Keep reading for the best tips ever on how to eat healthier, and practice healthy living for next to nothing.
1. Drink Water
We don’t mean those little 8oz brand name bottles of water (which are outrageously expensive), we mean plain old water. Invest in a Brita pitcher type water filter.
These are really not expensive, especially when you consider how much you will save buying bottled water. Another alternative is to use those DIY large water containers. You know the ones, 5 gallon plastic jugs a certain company generally charges $7 or more for, simply because they deliver it? Yes, those; dig up a few empties and take them with you when you go to the supermarket. Many places have those automated machines that allow you to fill it yourself, for about 50 cents.
Don’t buy sodas, fruit flavored drinks, or any of that other crap they are selling. Drink water. It’s cheap, it’s easy to find, and your body needs it.
2. Buy in Bulk and Buy on Sale
Studies have shown that those big box types of stores that generally charge a membership fee will save you hundreds of dollars, because you buy in bulk. You can always try to tag along with a friend who has a membership, or split the cost of a membership with a friend to save even more money.
If you don’t have one of those membership stores, buy in bulk as much as possible, especially things that won’t go bad over time such as dried beans, rice, canned and bottled fruits and veggies. Check over the supermarket ads before you buy. Eat whatever produce is on sale and buy whichever brand of laundry detergent or toilet paper is on sale.
Don’t get hung up on brands unless the other brands simply don’t work, which is rare. We usually buy the same brands because our mothers did, or our neighbors do, or because we like the smell of one product better than another. Think about saving money, not loyalty to a particular brand. Read more how to save real money on real food.
3. Invest in a Freezer
Used freezers are generally less than half the price of new, especially if you buy them during the winter months, particularly around the holidays.
Freezers will more than pay for themselves and the electricity they use. Buy milk, breads, fruit, and veggies when they are on sale and freeze them for later use. Make double meals and freeze half for another time when you won’t have time to cook.
This will save you a small fortune as well as keep you eating healthy foods at home because when you don’t have time to cook, you wind up going to the drive through or ordering in. Buy the newest freezer you can afford and keep it as full as possible to save on electricity costs.
4. Eat More Fermented Veggies
You should be eating mostly fruits and veggies anyway, as a plant –based diet is the healthiest but one more thing you should consider is eating more fermented veggies.
Vegetables that have been fermented unlock even more of their power. Fermenting veggies is a great way to preserve veggies as well. Eating fermented veggies will keep the bad bacteria in your body in check.
When you have a healthy digestive system, you will have a healthy immune system, which means you won’t be sick as often. So try to eat more sauerkraut, pickles, pickled cauliflower, and kimchee.
5. Grounding (Earthing)
Grounding, or earthing as it is sometimes called, is a completely free way to reap some incredibly valuable rewards. Connecting ourselves to the earth’s electrical energy discharges the negative consequences of EMFs as well as gives a feeling of well-being. Many people find that when they do earthing regularly, they sleep better, have improved moods, and more energy.
Best of all it’s completely free. Simply take off your shoes and socks and walk around (you can even just stand there!) on some nice grass, dirt, or sand for about 20 to 30 minutes per day. That’s it! You can use your hands, too, if you like, and if you want to do this for longer periods of time, that’s OK too. Sometimes the weather prohibits this type of thing, so there are some mats you can buy that will do the same thing, and if you love the way earthing makes you feel, you might consider buying some of those technological devices.
6. Vitamin D
There is so very much vitamin D does for us, and scientists are still discovering its benefits. For beginners, however, we do know that vitamin D will improve brain function, improve heart health, ease the symptoms of depression, and it might even stop cancer.
Your body will take the sun’s rays and make vitamin D for you completely free of charge. Try to get at least 15 to 30 minutes worth of sunshine daily and during winter months, if you live in an area that gets very little sun, take supplements.
7. Walk
Walking is terrific exercise, friends, and it’s free!
Even on cold, wintry days, you can walk around the mall or any enclosed building.
If you can afford a used treadmill for those cold days, great, otherwise, take advantage of those legs Mother Nature gave you and walk on!
8. Pack Your Lunch
Eating out is not only unhealthy (for the most part) it’s very expensive! Especially over time.
Even if you order a salad (which can be healthy), they run between 4 and 8 dollars depending on what is in them and where you live. For $5, you can buy enough salads for an entire week! That’s like buying one and getting 4 free. It only takes a little planning beforehand.
You can make your lunch the night before using leftovers from dinner, for example, or plan your lunches and have it all ready to go before you go to bed; this way there is no excuse that you don’t have time in the morning. Pack some healthy snacks, too, and this will keep you away from the vending machine.
9. Eat Eggs for Breakfast
The old eggs and cholesterol thing is a myth, so don’t buy into it.

Eggs are a terrific source of protein, full of vitamins, and are pretty low in price. If you have just a little room, consider keeping a couple hens to lay eggs for you. (You don’t need the rooster, just the ladies for eggs.)
Free range eggs can be more expensive but with your own hens, you will have all you need.
10. Learn to Meditate
Although people have practiced mediation for thousands of year as a means of spiritual enlightenment, you don’t have to have an interest in the spiritual to get the benefits of meditation. Regular meditation has tons of healing benefits for both body and mind. Practicing mediation will improve your immune system as well as reduce stress. It only takes a few minutes each day to calm your mind and improve your health and it costs nothing!
Getting healthier doesn’t require an expensive gym membership or spending hundreds of dollars on your weekly food budget from those pricey “all natural” stores. You just need to look at all your options and choose the ones that will work for you.
